DescriptionThe wheel that set in motion the two pistons was itself put in rotation by a strap linked to a steam engine. A crank mechanism is responsible for the vertical motion of the two pistons. A glass bottle attached to the central pillar has rubber tubes going to the two piston chambers. Grease was pumped in to maintain the pistons lubricated. The whole instrument is fixed on a rectangular base, which could be bolted down. It is still greasy.
