DescriptionThe transit is made of a primary telescope (the secondary telescope originally mounted on top of this one is missing) supported by two "inverted-U" columns. The telescope has one focusing knob, a variable power eyepiece, shades and cross hairs. On one side is a vertical graduated circle and under the telescope is a compass within which are embedded two perpendicular bubble levels forming an "L" shape. This structure pivots in the horizontal plan and its position is finely determined by two vernier scales, equipped with glass reflectors. It rests on a sturdy mount with four leveling screw. The latter is fixed to a tripod.
