DescriptionThe telescope is fixed between two "inverted-V" columns. The telescope has one focusing knob, shades and cross hairs. Fixed under it is a bubble level. A graduated circle with vernier is used to measure the telescope's angle. Two sighting vanes fixed to the columns were used for the determination of right angles. Under the telescope is a compass and two perpendicular bubble levels, forming an "L" shape. This structure pivots in the horizontal plan and its position is finely determined by a tangent screw and two vernier scales, one with an ivory reflector. It rests on a sturdy mount with four leveling screw. The latter is fixed to a tripod.

The instrument was stored in a carrying case when not in use. There is a plumb bob inside the case, suggesting that this transit was of the mining type.
