Material
DescriptionThis is a hand microtome. The instrument consists of a double-walled brass pipe with a threaded gap between the inner and outer walls. Into the gap goes another threaded pipe that is topped with a circular brass plate open in the center. The edge of the plate is beveled and graduated. The circumference is knurled.
The inner half of the double-walled pipe has clamps to hold a specimen. The clamps are tighted by two locking screws that peirce the side of the cylinder. A sleeve on the outside of the pipe is fitted with a pointer. A locking screw holds the sleeve in place.
