          The clock's pendulum is wood with a brass-faced lead disk for the bob. There is an adjustment screw at the bottom of the pendulum. Below this is a signaling magnet at the tip of the pendulum that communicates with a pendulum sensor at the bottom of the case. The magnet is horseshoe-shaped.

          Historical AttributesThis regulator by Seth Thomas Clock Company was located in the observatory building of the Metcalf 16-inch astrograph at Oak Ridge Observatory in Harvard, MA. It likely was also used with the telescope when it was in operation in Cambridge, MA in 1909 before being moved to Oak Ridge Observatory in 1932.
