Historical AttributesThis regulator by Seth Thomas Clock Company was located in the observatory building of the Metcalf 16-inch astrograph at Oak Ridge Observatory in Harvard, MA. It likely was also used with the telescope when it was in operation in Cambridge, MA in 1909 before being moved to Oak Ridge Observatory in 1932.
The underside of the tray for the timing weights is marked in pencil: 24". This suggests that the timing weights were originally associated with a clock used with one of Harvard's 24-inch telescopes, which included two Alvan Clark & Sons reflecting telescopes purchased in 1902.
