DescriptionThis is a Schieck small compound microscope. The instrument is constructed entirely of brass and it has a horse-shoe shaped base. The base supports a cylindrical pillar, which holds the arm and the sleeve in which the body tube moves. The coarse focus is by draw tube. The fine adjustment is by a vertical screw located on top of the pillar. (This screw is missing)
There is a square stage with two long brass stage clips. Substage apparatus includes a rotating wheel diaphragm and a plano-concave mirror on a swinging arm.
This instrument is accompanied by a flat mahogany case fitted for accessories. Compartments are cushioned with black velvet. Accessories include two oculars, marked 0 and 1. There are four objectives marked 2, 4, 5, and 7. There are two French prepared slides with opaque specimens and pink and yellow paper on the glass. Specimen names are in French cursive writing. There is also a plain glass slide, which is broken.
