DescriptionThe brass cylindrical drum is supported by two columns fixed on a cast iron base. At one end of the drum are three pulleys of various diameters. Linked to a motor, they were used to calibrate the speed with which the drum was rotating. This drum was used with a number of different inscribing instruments, as depicted in Verdin's catalogue mentioned here.
