DescriptionA cylindrical wire mesh cage. Around the top and bottom rim, along the side, is a band of metal. From the bottom rim, three legs, each shaped like a Z, but with only right angles. Each leg is 5cm tall. The wire mesh bottom is supported by four pins projecting inward from the walls. The mesh at the top of the cylinder is covered by a small iron knob. Along one side is a circular opening for a feeder bottle, which in turn has a small hole for a bottle spout. The rusty spring clipped to outer cage wall was meant to support the feeder bottle.

FunctionJ.B. Little et al. used this cage to experiment on rats' blood and water balances. The experiment had, as its goal, to understand the way 'undisturbed' rats would react to anti-diuretic hormone.
