          DescriptionA wooden base painted black has pegs supporting various types of accessories used on an optical bench (2020a). They are all mounted on brass column. These are from left to right: 1) optical tube with piece of glass marked with a vertical line in the center; 2) Nicol prism in cylinder; 3) lens framed in black diaphragm; 4) lens framed in black diaphragm; 5) Nicol prism; 6) empty support (perhaps for glass plates analyzer); 7) Fresnel apparatus; 8) optical tube with revolving four-hole diaphragm on which can be fixed one of seven wood mounted lenses: hexagonal, square, oval, rhomboid, circle, rectangular and triangle (all marked in red ink "H", meaning Harvard). There are also two brass supports that have no mounted accessory.

          Curatorial RemarksThough unmarked, these optical bench accessories are very similar in design to the ones advertised by Ernecke in the catalogue mentioned in the primary sources. In the catalogue the optical bench is described as "Grosse optische Bank nach Paalzow, zur objektiven Darstellung der Polarisations-Erscheinungen, Spektral-Analyse und Mikroskopie."
