          DescriptionWattmeter, mounted on a brown wooden base, without outer casing. The wooden base has carved channels into which the instrument and its components, mounted on a brass frame, are set. The instrument display is curved and rounded and is printed with a double scale. The top scale is marked from 0-50, in increments of 0.5; the bottom scale is marked from 0-25, in increments of 2.5. The display has a triangular metal indicator, narrowing to a long point.

          The front of the instrument has two cylindrical black plastic knobs mounted on the left, along with a recessed button; the right side has three metal posts.

          The back of the instrument has brass mounting brackets, a pair of current coils or fixed electrical coils, a moveable, potential coil, and cloth covered electrical wiring connecting the components. Back of instrument also has a series of 10 vertical plates, wired in series.

          Curatorial RemarksSeveral tags indicate that this wattmeter was badly damaged and had been kept for demonstration of what such wattmeters look like inside. Tag 1: "unmounted for inspection" Tag 2: "dual coil electrodynammometer, meter badly damaged" Tag 3: "HOLD for Photo & Parts" Instrument Card of object 0558 has a photograph of this object, possibly as example of what the instrument would look like without case and face plate.
          Functiona wattmeter, or "dual coil electrodynammometer," for measuring electric power consumption in a circuit.

          The outer casing has been removed, most likely for demonstration purposes.
