        DescriptionHorizontal Dial with Compass
        The gnomon for the horizontal dial is mounted together with a magnetic compass in a rectangular case. The chapter ring for the dial is located on a loose rectangular plate that mounts on top of the case with a heart shaped opening thru which the compass can be viewed. The chapter ring is marked 3-12-1-9 with 15 minute subdivisions. The gnomon is designed for a latitude of roughly 55°. The compass rose is divided into 4 points marked N, O, S, and W with no subdivisions. There is a magnetic declination mark at about 10° eest of North.,rectangular
