DescriptionA toroid-shaped base supports a brass fixture consisting of a threaded opening on the top and a stopcock on the side. Next to the stopcock there is also what appears to be some sort of attachment made of a brass frame and thumb screw.

FunctionThe base was most likely used to support a container that would have been screwed on top of the fixture. Air could go in and out of the container. The stopcock would have controlled its flow. The attachment was perhaps designed to secure in place the tube linking this base to an air pump.
