Curatorial RemarksAppraisal by Brieux, 9/24/84: $200.
FunctionTime-finding by orienting the chapter ring to be parallel to the equinoctial with an angular adjustment for latitiude and with the peep sight adjusted for the sun's declination. The sight is rotated until the sun passes thru the peep hole and is centered on thedot. This would be more easily accomplished with the aid of a compass (possibly missing).
