            DescriptionEquinoctial dial with a continuous circular chapter ring marked II-XII, I-X, subdivided in 1/4 hour increments. A second set of hour markings using Arabic numbers is located on the edge of the chapter ring. The vertical angle of the chapter ring is adjustable for northern latitudes from 11° to 90°, calibrated in 1° increments. The compass rose is divided into 4 points marked: "TR", "LE", "ME", and "PO" with a magnetic declination line offset approximately 10° to the west of North. Latitiudes in degrees and minutes for 48 European towns are engraved on the base.,oval,The gnomon design is unusual. There is a detachable plummet.

            FunctionTime-finding by orienting the gnomon to point toward the North Pole with the aid of a magnetic compass and an angular adjustment for latitiude.
