          DescriptionThe chapter ring surrounds a magnetic compass on an octagonal brass plate. The gnomon for the dial is hinged to fold flat onto the chapter ring for storage. The chapter ring is marked 4-12-1-8 with 1/2 hour subdivisions. The string gnomon is for latitudes from 51° to 48° in 1° increments. The compass rose is divided into 4 points with every point marked SE, OR, ME, and OC. There are no subdivisions. There is a magnetic declination mark at about 11° west of North.,octagonal
