Curatorial RemarksNo previous inventory number. Original sundial is in the Essex Institute (now Peabody Essex Museum) in Salem, an institution supported by David Wheatland and his family. The original example came to this country with Governor John Endicott in 1638 and is claimed to be the earliest sundial brought to America.
