DescriptionHorizontal Dial with Compass dated 1756(?)
The horizontal dial is mounted together with a magnetic compass on a brass plate with four feet. The gnomon for the dial is hinged to allow it to fold flat against the baseplate when not in use. The chapter ring is marked 6-12-1-9 with 15 minute subdivisions. The gnomon is designed for a latitude of approximately 48.5°. The compass rose is divided into 4 points with no legend.
