DescriptionThis unknown device consists of a heavy rectangular metallic box in which a hollow cylinder is held in place by a plaque and spring mechanism. The diameter of the cylinder can vary slightly. It was perhaps meant to hold an optical tube of piece of glass. A rod (seen on top in the picture) was inserted in an optical bench and served as support.
