This is the "Student's Microscope" as shown in Boston Optical Works / Charles Stodder catalogues for 1871 and 1873 (see file for 1045). CHSI inventory numbers 1129, 1130, 1131, 1286, 1294, 1338 are all "Student's Microscopes."
E. Gay reported that the "2 inch objective appears to be solid, at least very thick, and may be an early flat field design."
There is a trade card for Charles Stodder, Boston on the bottom of the case.
